Digital Nature Therapy
Windows:
A video series on digital nature therapy
Nature therapy, or ecotherapy, is a field of research that studies and highlights the positive benefits of connecting with nature. Launched in April as a response to world wide quarantines where we were instructed to stay mostly indoors, Infinite Resort (my then creative studio) founded WINDOWS. Containing 12 episodes, we created videos meant to immerse you in an audiovisual journey through the beauty of our planet. Following the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water, our aim was to provide a breath of virtual fresh air.
Studies show the positive effects of connecting with nature decreases stress, anxiety and calms the mind. One study showed that a walk through a green space reduced depression and worry in patients by 71%. Studies on patients who simply had a window with a view of a tree reported improved mood, mental health and life satisfaction. In a world where our brains are currently working overtime while having to stay mostly indoors, nature therapy seems to get us out of our heads with positive measurable brain benefits.
It’s through this research that Infinite Resort founded this series.. We urge you to put everything away, and just for a couple minutes, focus on the sights and sounds we’re providing for you through our virtual window. Relax, breathe, and remember, nature is infinite, just like you.
Each video premiered with a text describing the inspiration and meaning behind the video, as well as collaborators where necessary.
Window 11 was in partnership with beach resort Palm Heights Grand Cayman and premiered with an interview with owner Gabriela Khalil on responsibility and sustainable tourism.
